Louis R. Battista was born in Manhattan, New York on May 10, 1967. He obtained his B.A. from the State University of New York at Oswego in 1989, where he was a standout scholar-athlete, making the President's List and leading his college baseball team to three conference championships.

Lou obtained his law degree in 1994 from Nova Southeastern University Shepard Broad Law Center. While at Nova, he was a member of both the Law Review and Moot Court Society, earned The Florida Bar Trial Lawyer's Award, and was selected as a National Member of the Order of Barristers. Lou worked as a law clerk with the firm and after obtaining his law degree, became an associate in 1995. After several years of hard work and outstanding trial results, Lou became a partner in the firm.

Lou is board-certified in Civil Trial Law by both The Florida Bar and the National Board of Trial Advocacy. He has consistently been AV rated by the Martindale-Hubbell Law Directory, which is the highest rating given by this publication. Lou has been extensively involved with the legal community. He is an active member of the state wide trial lawyer organization, The Florida Justice Association. Lou has served on the Board of Directors for the Association. He has been honored by The Florida Justice Association receiving the Legislative Leadership Award, the Golden Eagle Award, and Outstanding Young Lawyers Award for his excellent service to the Association, legal profession, community and legislative efforts to protect Florida's families.

Over the years, Lou has also served on the Board of Directors of various legal organizations, including the Broward County Bar Association and the American Association for Justice. He remains active with many of these organizations. In 2000, Lou was honored by the Broward County Bar Association, receiving the distinguished Paul May Professionalism Award for exemplifying the ideals of professionalism in the practice of law and for his service to the community. Lou is also a member of the Broward, Dade and Palm Beach County Justice Associations, The Florida Bar Trial Lawyers Section, The Federal Bar Association, The American Bar Association, the National Italian American Bar Association, and serves on Alumni Board of Directors for Nova Southeastern University Law Center.

Additionally, Lou has published numerous legal articles and has lectured at Continuing Legal Education Programs for The Florida Justice Association, The Florida Bar, the Broward County Bar Association, and the National Institute of Trial Advocacy. He is admitted to all Florida State and Federal courts, including the United States Supreme Court, the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit, and the United States District Court for the Southern, Middle, and Northern Districts of Florida. Lou has been active within the community with the United Way, the Boys and Girls Clubs of Broward County, Habitat for Humanity and other civic and charitable organizations.
