Kurt Zimmerman has practiced law since 1990 in the areas of real property, probate and trust law. He began his practice at the national law firm of McDermott, Will & Emery in Chicago, working with some of the most innovative and accomplished attorneys in the country. Upon locating to his wife's home town of Fort Lauderdale, Kurt worked with a leading firm in the region. There, he created family wealth plans for families and affluent individuals alike. Kurt’s practice focuses on personalized estate planning and administration for individuals, couples and families, as well as representation of closely-held business owners. He has a broad range of experience including wills, revocable living trusts, family business entity planning, planning for non-citizen spouses, special needs planning, elder law planning, and irrevocable trusts, including life insurance trusts, personal residence trusts, grantor retained annuity trusts, dynasty trusts, charitable remainder and lead trusts.

Kurt earned his Bachelor of Arts at the University of Michigan, where he was a four-year letterman in baseball, earning 1st Team Academic All-Big Ten, 1st Team All-Big Ten, Big Ten Tournament MVP, and Wolverine Award honors ("most inspirational player"). Kurt and his teammates (including major leaguers Jim Abbott of the California Angels, Barry Larkin and Chris Sabo of the Cincinnati Reds, and Scott Kamieniecki and Hal Morris of the New York Yankees) made two consecutive appearances in the College World Series in Omaha, Nebraska (1983 & 1984) and won three Big Ten Championships. Kurt played for the Orleans Cardinals in the Cape Cod summer baseball league, the nation's preeminent college summer league. But of all his wonderful experiences in sport, the most gratifying has been coaching and observing the sports activities of his young children.

Prior to attending the University of Michigan, Kurt was one of 50 Americans selected as an English-Speaking Union Scholar, earning a scholarship for one year of post-graduate study at Ellesmere College in England.

Kurt earned his Juris Doctor at Vanderbilt University Law School, where he served as President of the Vanderbilt Bar Association and was selected by the faculty as recipient of the Bennett Douglas Bell Memorial Prize, which goes to the graduate who "is not only well versed in the law, but who shows the highest conception of the ethics of the profession."
