Gordon C. Brydger is a board certified marital and family law attorney; member and past president of the Florida Chapter of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers; fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers; and a fellow of the International Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers.

Mr. Brydger grew up in Miami and went to college at the University of Florida in Gainesville. He graduated with honors and was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa. Mr. Brydger received a scholarship to Emory University Law School in Atlanta, Georgia, where he served as an editor of the Emory Law Journal. He was admitted to the Florida Bar in 1977. His legal career began at a large firm in downtown Miami. In 1988, he opened his own practice in Fort Lauderdale and devoted his practice exclusively to marital and family law.

Mr. Brydger is a member of the Broward County Bar Association, where he served as chair of the Family Law Section from 1993–1994. He was also co-chair of the Continuing Legal Education Committee from 1990–1992 and a member of the Judicial Selection and Tenure Committee from 1989–1991, for the Florida Bar.

Mr. Brydger is also a member of the Family Law Section of the Florida Bar, where he served on the Executive Council from 1990–1997; on the Rules Committee from 1996–1999; and on the Family Law Section Legislative Committee from 1993–1994. He was co-chair of the Membership Committee from 1994–1995 and on the Judicial Nominating Procedures Committee from 1989–1991.

Mr. Brydger served on a Grievance Committee for the Florida Bar from 1992–1995, and he was the chairman in 1995. He was also a member of the Judicial Nominating Committee for the 17th Judicial Circuit from 1999–2003, and he served as chairman from 2001–2002.

Mr. Brydger served as president of the Florida Chapter of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers from 2007-2008. The Academy is an organization dedicated to encouraging the study, improving the practice, elevating the strategy and advancing the cause of matrimonial law to better serve the welfare of the family in society. Mr. Brydger has been on the Board of Managers for the Academy since 1997 and was chairman of the Legislation Committee in 2002.

Mr. Brydger has published a number of articles, and he is a frequent lecturer in the state of Florida on dissolution issues. He was the author of "Grounds for Dissolution and Effect of Fault," in Florida's Dissolution of Marriage Manuals in 1993.

Mr. Brydger lectures frequently for the Florida Bar and the Broward County Bar Association. From 2003-2007, he lectured on practice and procedure for the Florida Bar Family Law Section Certification Review Course.

Mr. Brydger has an AV rating, the highest rating possible from Martindale Hubbell, and has been recognized for excellence in the field of family law by many publications, including Best Lawyers in America, Martindale Hubbell's Bar Registration of Preeminent Lawyers, Broward Daily Business Review, Super Lawyers, and Florida Law and Leading Attorney's Consumer Guidebook.
